Mike with Young People
South Kent College
Mike is the lead counsellor at South Kent College where he has lead the service to be one of a handful of colleges to have its counselling service accredited by the BACP. Students cover a wide age range but a large proportion of them are aged from 16 and 21. These young people come from a variety of backgrounds and bring with them an equally large variety of problems. They are however, on the whole, different problems from those being faced by children or adults.
Social Services
From time to time social service departments from various areas commission me to work individually with young people.
Private Practice
A substantial part of my practice involves working with young people. Usually this is on a one to one basis but occasionally it involves working with a family group.
Fostering
I have considerable experience working with young people in foster care. This work is sometimes through fostering agencies, sometimes through social services and sometimes through individual carers.
